Jessica Harrow's costume and look is so cool, I can easily see cosplayers doing their interpretations of this character is upcoming conventions. The characters are interesting and the artwork is fantastic. I can't recommend this issue enough, the creative team did such a great job setting the stage for this series. Especially in parts of the afterlife this has me asking other questions that I hope are answered in later issues. The second time over I paid more attention to people and things in the background. Flaviano captured the vastness of these world incredibly well and the color palettes selected by Renzi gives a real sense of separation between each of the realms.Īfter Jessica finishes her assignment, things start to shake up when Jessica realizes her scythe has been stolen. The version that Phillips and Flaviano creates is impressive. Seeing creators different interpretations of the afterlife is always something I enjoy. Things get increasingly more interesting as we go with Jessica as she takes her assigned soul to the afterlife. The dead not realizing the are dead, until they are standing over their lifeless body, trying to escape their fate, the usual stuff. The first few pages are the usual stuff we've seen with these kinds of stories. Ivy in Bit Wars, an animated show by Nu Boom Studios. The story opens as she guides a man to the afterlife after he gets killed in a car accident. We're introduced to Jessica Harrow, one of many reapers who work for Death to guide souls to the afterlife. ![]() Given that this is the first issue, Phillips has to do some of the work of establishing our main character and the world we're operating in moving forward. I enjoyed Grim a great deal and I'm looking forward to the next issue. ![]() So going in I was already excited just by the names on the creative team. I loved Flaviano's art on the Power Man & Iron Fist book for Marvel. I've been enjoying Stephanie Phillips work on Harley Quinn for DC and Taarna with Heavy Metal.
